Bridgewater Plaza was the vision on Ed and Greg Waters. The first section was completed in 1987, followed by additions in 1988, 1989, 1995, and 2000. It has become the hub of Smith Mountain Lake. Today it is home to 20 businesses, 120 covered boat slips, 100 rental boats, and Harbotown Mini Golf which is the only putt putt course in the country located entirely over the water. Bridgewater Plaza is one of the most unique travel destinations on the east coast and has entertained thousands of visitors over the past 40 years.
